The idea of the exhibition is to collect a selection of books through which it is possible to define a phenomenology of the artist’s book and a series of rules that “authorize” it.
The exhibition stems from an inquiry into poetic quotations extracted from books and statements, prosaic-practical definitions that prepare the status of the artist’s book. The starting point for the foundation of the rules of the artist’s book is a curatorial exercise that relies on the artists themselves and proposes a solution in the face of perennial historiographical indecision on the subject.
To get to the rules we propose 3 stages of approach: the caption (identity), the quote (poetic) and the statement (practice).
With 40 books, 12 citations and 10 statements, we arrive at defining an anti-theoretical statute and a brief anthology of the 6 previous editions of the event.
The analysis points that correspond to the sections in the exhibition are the typography, the im-pagination, the surface, the binding, the weight, the volume, the format, the attachment, the circulation, the post-reading.

L’idea del percorso espositivo è di raccogliere una selezione di titoli attraverso cui definire una fenomenologia del libro d’artista e definirne uno statuto in definizioni-regole che lo autorizzano.
La mostra scaturisce da un’indagine sulle citazioni poetiche estratte dai libri e gli statements, definizioni prosaiche-pratiche che preparano lo statuto del libro d’artista. Lo spunto della fondazione delle regole del libro d’artista è un esercizio curatoriale che si affida agli stessi artisti e propone una soluzione a fronte di una perenne indecisione storiografica sul tema.
Per arrivare alle regole si propongono 3 stadi di avvicinamento: la didascalia (identità), la citazione (poetica) e l’affermazione (pratica).
Con 40 libri, 12 citazioni e 10 statements si arriva dunque a definire uno statuto anti-teoretico ed una sommaria antologia delle 6 edizioni precedenti della manifestazione.
I punti di analisi che corrispondono alle sezioni in mostra sono la tipografia, l’im-paginazione, la superficie, la legatura, la grammatura, il volume, il formato, l’allegato, la tiratura, la post-lettura.
